This Thursday, October 1st, we will kickoff the Save the Monkeywhale Festival at Solaris with a reception at 9pm. Around 10pm we will commence with the music.
Now You See Them, currently from Asheville, NC, will start playing at 10pm. If you missed their set at the Tate Street Festival last weekend, you won’t want to miss this. Check out their videos in Harvey’s Kitchen here.
Eating the Invaders will be up next, from Greensboro, NC. Another band that was at the Tate Street Festival, and many other places around town, this four piece rock and roll band have strong ties to the Monkeywhale. Their Harvey’s Kitchen video is here.
And then, my friends, then we will witness the splendor that is Holy Ghost Tent Revival, also from Greensboro, NC. Closing out this, the first of three action packed evenings, Holy Ghost should- and most likely will- tear the place down. In town briefly from their national tour, this show will be special indeed. They have been all quoted saying, “Save the Monkeywhale.” And that is what they intend to do. Watch them in Harvey’s Kitchen here.
Let me assure you that this kickoff show, or the following two nights at the Blind Tiger, will not be like any old show you’ve been to before. I’m talking about multiple high definition video cameras shooting the entire three nights, live stream to monkeywhale.com, live switch, stage sets, lights, the whole nine.
If you are a photographer, and want to come on out and shoot these bands, bring it. We will have the stages lit for photography.
Friday and Saturday nights are going to be sick, too.
