Lil Mikey Roohan opened for the Crap Rock All Stars at the Flatiron. There was rock and roll, hilarity, chest stabbers and blue balls.
It was a Saturday night at the old watering hole, the Flatiron, and Lil Mikey Roohan stepped up on stage with his acoustic guitar and wailed out his own heartfelt, sad, hilarious, and dance-worthy original tunes.
Roohan has a plethora of original albums, has played in countless bands, and consistently gets his humorous songs (and song parodies) played on satellite radio, the Red Peters Comedy Hour Show, and the illustrious Howard Stern show.
Among his many creative musical endeavors, Roohan plays bass in the Crap Rock All Stars. Kit Dean and Tommy Tinnitus grabbed their guitar and drum sticks and joined Roohan on stage, as he put down the acoustic guitar and strapped on his bass.
Dean and Tinnitus have been playing together for years. Both were members of the Greensboro band, Scarlet Harlot, during its existence (three or four years ago), and have been playing as the Crap Rock All Stars ever since.
Dean and Roohan have top notch songwriting skills, and Tinnitus is one of the best rock and roll drummers in town. Check them out, if you are trying to have a good time. At this particular show, the Crap Rock All Stars performed three encores, including a Roohan song called Blue Balls for Christmas. When the tune was requested by an audience member, Roohan said, “Blue Balls for Christmas? But it’s January…” It was actually May.
Get their album to hear tunes like Cheststabber, Baited Hooks, and I’m not Jaded.
A special thanks to Carolyn de Berry, for the use of her tiny bendable tripod.
