Fake NY Times Declares War's Over

0 Comments 12 Nov, 2008

Thousands of lucky New Yorkers were greeted with free copies of the New York Times this morning at subway stations throughout the city.  For many early morning and perhaps caffeine deprived commuters it must have been a delightful surprise to get something free in New York. Also inspiring might have been the moment they read the headline, “Iraq War Ends”. Until these lucky devils happened to notice the paper was dated July 4, 2009.

A group of liberal pranksters known as the Yes Men were apparently responsible for this clever and complicated hoax which reportedly took six months to plan. The 15 page paper and it’s accompanying website is full of articles about maximum wage laws, national health insurance and Bush being indicted for high treason. Good, good stuff.

Monkeywhale applauds merry pranksters everywhere!
