Lucky, Indeed

3 Comments 14 Apr, 2009

We had the very good fortune of catching Lucky at Cat’s Cradle this weekend.  Formed by Katharine Whalen and Will Dawson of the Squirrel Nut Zippers, Lucky is a new band with old-timey rock and roll goodness.  Their live show is rockin’ and fun and full of personality.  And of course there’s Katharine’s voice which you probably already know is like “buttah”.  As long time Zipper fans we have been very excited to meet up with these cats and get to hear some of their new musical pursuits.  Monkeywhale viewers might just get Lucky themselves in May when some of the members of the band are scheduled to visit us in the Kitchen.  That night (May 2) Will’s other band Alcazar Hotel (who you’ve surely seen right here) will be playing with our beloved Eating the Invaders at the Flat Iron in downtown G.Boro.  Good stuff comin’ our way!

Today’s words of wisdom from The Hardy Boys’ Guide to Life

“If you come home and see a face peeking out of the guest room, don’t just go after the man by throwing the good china at him or attacking him with a wet umbrella; he may be the guest of your nephews.”

Thank you Will and Katharine!
