Monday Sports Rehabilitation

I awoke this morning to the aroma of chili.  I cooked a big ole’ pot yesterday in preparation for Sunday football, and the smell of chili still lingered. I never left the house Sunday, and stayed by the t.v and computer all day while devouring bowls of chili, one after the other.  A few Budweiser’s disappeared as well.  Doesn’t get much better than that for a sports fan.  Unless, of course I could get a win out of one of my teams.  Yep, it would be nice to get a fantasy win also, it’s turning into what will probably be a long season in fantasy world.  Oh well, maybe next year, or not. Saturday, I didn’t stay at the house.  I met my friend Heather at a local pub to watch her Crimson Tide play against Tennessee.  I was also looking to watch my Terps, this game was not on and I had to watch the damn ticker.  Yes, the ticker.  Terps lose again.  I liked things better when Duke was just a basketball school.  Duke, go away and take Gina and Scott with you.  That will be all.  Holy blocked kick Batman.  Terrence Cody, Bama’s nose guard blocked 2 kicks, count em’ 2. One was in the final seconds of the game.  I thought Heather was going to explode.  I told you she was passionate about Bama football.  Bama probably should have lost this game.  No thanks to RB Mark Ingram, who fumbled for the first time in his college career late in the game.  That set up the field goal attempt that was blocked by big Cody.  Bama needs to play better if they want to kept their title hopes alive.  Florida had another ugly win as well against Miss. St.  More bad calls by the officials, seems that the SEC officials are pro Florida.  Every week it seems as if they are on the bright end of a bad call.  I’m just saying.  Clemson upset the U in overtime.  I’m not a big fan of either, but it was exciting to watch.  The ACC is so unpredictable this year, just like previous years.  Both divisions, the Coastal and Atlantic are wide open.  Should be interesting to see which teams make it to the ACC championship game.  My vote,  Clemson and Virginia Tech.  One more college football note.  What an amazing display of humanity, respect, and sportsmanship before and after the West Virginia vs. UCONN game.  UCONN’s Jasper Howard was stabbed to death on campus earlier in the week, tragic and extremely upsetting.  At the beginning of the game the WVU fans and players applauded UCONN as they took the field.  Hugs all over the place.  Heart felt to say the least.  I think a tear ran down my cheek, but that’s just me.  Both schools were on the same team that day, the team of the human race.  I’m just saying.

The NFL.  How is it you keep me glued to the t.v every Sunday?  Am I that bored?  Do I need to get a life?  Is it my fantasy players?  Hell no, I love it.  I’d love it even more if the Redskins would do something.  Oh well.  For the record my shirt is still in the dirty laundry basket.  I’m gonna make it short and quick this week.  The NFL in London, I don’t know.  Money,  money, money.  Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints do it again.  The Pittsburgh Steelers defense scored 2 TDs vs. the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.  Kudos.  Thanks for the fantasy points.  N.Y Jets Mark Sanchez, welcome back rookie.  Carolina Panthers QB Jake Delhomme, see you dude.  I like calling North Carolina home. Not anymore.  That will be all.  Maybe Bojangles will still let you sell chicken for them?  Holla.  Monday night’s match-up between the NFC East’s, my Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles will probably be like watching a train wreck.  Redskins, it’s about time you win a game. Both teams are struggling and desperately need a win. I’m not sure who needs it more though.  I’ll settle for about 3 fantasy points from Redskin TE Chris Cooley, which would give me a win this week after 5 straight loses.  That’s horrible when I’m pulling for one player to get some yards and a score, instead of my team.  Fantasy football, I like you, but you take away from me enjoying a good ole’ fashion NFC East Monday night match-up.  I think I’m finished with you.  Hell, I don’t know.  Probably not.  I say this every year, Matty will tell you.  I’m just saying.

The N.Y Yankees do it again.  40 AL titles.  Kudos to you.  Even though I don’t like you.  The Philadelphia Phillies vs. the N.Y Yankees.  The World Series starts on Wednesday night in the city that never sleeps.  Great t.v people, tune in.  Damn, I just realized that it’s almost the end of October.  Baseball runs longer and longer every year it seems.  I guess if Reggie Jackson played for the Yankees in this day and age, he would be called Mr. November instead of Mr. October.  Hmmmm.  I’m just saying.
