Eating the Invaders: Live at the DMP

4 Comments 22 Sep, 2010

Yes.  This event happened about 2 years ago.  Yes.  The band no longer exists but the song is still performed by a great local band named, “Matty Sheets and the Blockheads” which you can catch playing the 2nd night of Greensboro Fest 2010 at Lyndon Street.  You might remember Matty Sheets from such previous productions as “The Adventures of Martin Dockery, Horologist”  or as the curmudgeonly penguin in Monkeywhale’s first attempt at a commercial.

I lit the scene by creating a giant backlight reflector using a roll or two of aluminum foil and about five thousand watts of light.  I think Barry (on drums) might have been a shade or two darker after we finished.  So, here they all are together performing “Swimming Pool” alongside the very talented Christine Geiger and Ashley Kirkman.

Many thanks to Sean Coon and Don Ravonne Gaye of the dotmatrix project.  A fine institution.
