Local filmmaker and graduate of UNC-G Andy Coon sits down in the kitchen to reminisce about his life in the corporate world, his introduction to film production and his web series, Corporate Assassin.
Originally from New Jersey and brother to Sean Coon of the Dotmatrix Project, Andy directed Greensboro’s Child, an insightful documentary about the Klan/Communist Workers Party clash on November 3rd 1979. The result was fatal. Five union organizers were gunned down on videotape by Klan and American Nazi Party members. Two criminal trials resulted in acquittal of the defendants by all white juries.
The event has been the source of considerable tension in Greensboro, North Carolina with no real resolution although some efforts have been made including a recent truth and reconciliation commission.
Needless to say, Andy is not one to shy from controversy.
