Originally from Atlanta, Georgia Pete now lives in Greensboro, NC. He and his wife own and operate the Green Bean, a coffee shop/gallery/performance venue. It was one of the first downtown businesses to emerge that sparked a mini cultural renaissance which now includes a host of bars, a regional theatre, together with a number of restaurants, galleries and salons.
In 2006, Pete along with a number of partners, opened the Flying Anvil, a medium sized venue that saw the likes of The Stone Roses, members of Sonic Youth and Cat Power amongst others. The business failed. After a year of reflection and a number of successes with his booking agency, Giant Invisible Cyclops, Pete talks about the lessons learned, Copperheads and chicken feathers.
On December 29th at Studio B on South Elm Street in Greensboro, Molly McGinn, Paleface and Holy Ghost Tent Revival will all play under the same roof all booked and promoted by Giant Invisible Cyclops. It’s a show we won’t be missing even if it is on a school night.
Pete brought up a great documentary. Athens Georgia, inside out. If you get a chance you should watch it.
