Lucky: Behind the Scenes

4 Comments 12 May, 2009

Katharine Whalen’s Lucky is one of our new favorites. Katharine and Will Dawson (both of the Squirrel Nut Zippers) kindly embraced all that is Monkeywhale after Will’s band Alcazar Hotel played in the Kitchen.  So when Katharine said she’d bring Lucky (or some form of it) to the Kitchen we were, as you might imagine, very excited.  Especially after we caught their live show at the Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro.

So on a recent Saturday afternoon that happened to be Derby Day,  Katharine, Will, Katharine’s daughter the lovely Cecelia Mathis and Brad Porter packed up a bunch of instruments and fun hats and costumes and lettuce straight from their garden and came to visit us here in the ‘Boro.  Here’s a sneak preview.  These cats are too much fun.  Come back in a bit to hear ‘em.
